Inspiring Compassion and Community Action
This was perhaps the most fulfilling heist in his work – knowing that he had brought change to other people, too, just as someone had done for him by showing that same kindness. He spoke with others who, too, had rescued abandoned or injured animals and shared stories of how those animals brought them healing and joy. This put across the message that Bella’s story had begun the ripple effect-more people were stepping up to help animals in distress, and shelters started receiving more donations and support.
The rescue of Bella also began the trend of conversations about the need for better education on animal care and responsibility. In addition, he started pet care education programs in collaboration with local shelters and vet clinics and an activity that taught children and families to care for their pets. Kids learned how to be responsible for having a pet, how to look after animals, and most importantly, how to spot potential neglect.
He even initiated a fund that was to take care of the animals. This would range from medication in case of badly injured animals, provision of food and shelter, and helping those who had been abused or handled poorly regain their normalcy. The fund became successful as people all over the world sent in money motivated by the incredible story of Bella’s rescue.
